Qatar Petroleum announced on Saturday that its subsidiary Ocean LNG has signed a long-term supply agreement with the Central Electricity Company of Sergipe State in Brazil, starting from 2020.
It said in a statement that under the agreement, 10,000 tons per year will be shipped to Brazil on a delivered-on-board basis.
The shipments, which will begin in 2020, will be used for a power generation project in the port of Sergipe near Aracaju, the capital of Sergipe state, the statement said.
The statement did not provide any timetable for the duration of this agreement.
President and CEO Al-Kaabi said the agreement underscores Qatar's position as a global export leader. According to the statement, Kaabi said Brazil is an important market and we are proud to help meet Brazil's natural gas needs.
Qatar is a major supplier to European and Asian markets.
